Lago Vista is a beautiful lakeside community set on the north shore of Lake Travis and located 35 miles northwest of Austin. An abundance of scenery, wildlife, lake living and a relaxing environment make this community a highly desired location with a variety of businesses, highly acclaimed schools, a property owners association with several lakeside parks for Lago Vista residents, challenging golf courses, wineries, performing arts, marinas and easy access to the Hill Country and more.

This vital community of the Lake Travis north shore region has a population just over 6,000 and encompasses nearly 15 miles of gorgeous Lake Travis shoreline. Originally developed in the 1960’s as a lake resort, it was incorporated in the early 1980’s as a mayor-city council government. Lago Vista is the gateway to the renowned Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, which is dedicated to the protection of the golden cheek warbler and other wildlife.

Lago Vista is home to the Rusty Allen Airport, suited for private small aircraft, and the Lago Vista Airport Museum. In 2005, the airport served as the center of operations for relief flights for victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi. Small planes from across the nation and Mexico landed at Rusty Allen Airport to pick up essential supplies which were directed to outlying communities not initially served by government agency relief efforts. Lago Vista was the only General Aviation Center (GAC) airport in the country to support such flights.

Annual area events include La Primavera Bicycle Race, the Balcones Canyonlands Songbird Festival, the North Shore MusicFest and a grand 4th of July Celebration with fireworks over the lake. The Lago Vista Property Owner’s Association offers residents five private lakeside parks, a swimming pool and activity center with fitness area, a clubhouse and marina.
