The Village of Bear Creek is located in the Bear Creek Oaks Subdivision in Hays County and considers itself the “Best Little Town in Texas,” proud of its great blend of people that don’t want to live in a big city. Bear Creek was incorporated in November 1997 to establish local control and gain freedom from the threat of annexation by the City of Austin. The subdivision was developed in the late 1970’s by Robert Ingrum and E.D. Bohls, and was originally part of the Koenig Family Ranch.
You can find Bear Creek halfway between Austin and the Salt Lick, a world-renowned barbeque restaurant in Driftwood. The community is proud of its common sense approach to country living and rural character with great schools in the Dripping Springs Independent School District, dining and nearby shopping, but no commercial businesses in their residential community.
